PONTUS, Neocaesarea. Gordian III. 238-244 AD. Æ 30mm (13.87 gm). Dated CY 178 (241/242 AD). Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind / KOI ΠONT MH N-EOK[AICAPIAC, [ET] POH (date) in exergue, agonistic urn with two palms set on table, palm on either side of table, two handled jug below. Cf. BMC Pontus 13; RG 52; SNG Copenhagen -; SNG von Aulock 110. Fine, dark green and brown patina, surfaces a little rough.
